    HISTORY

    Brook House was declared open Nov 13th 1899 at the end of the reign of Queen Victoria. Dedicated to the memory of Adella Strutt of the reknowned Strutt family.Wife of George Herbett Strutt made rich and famous from cotton mills, investments and inventions in the golden age of the industrial revolutionThe Strutt family mark is left indellibly on the local area.
    His first marriage to Edith produced no less than 7 off springHis second marriage a further 4 !
    In addition to building what is now Peak Manor the Strutts built a swimming bath and a School in Belper.
    Peak ManorHaving been used variously as an infirmary a rest / retirement home and a maternity home
    In the early noughties the house was sold into private ownership being used as a home untilthe last 2010s - and was renamed Mohan House
    Now a Premeir Venue for lettings weddings celebrations and events The building is listed (Grade II) and in the listing, reference is made to the marble floor sited in the entrance hall laid by craftsmen from Italy !
